Raw Sugar import duty-free quota raised to 10 lakh MT till October 2026
India has opened a duty-free Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) of 10 lakh MT for raw sugar imports until 31 October 2026. Companies holding existing Advance Authorisation licenses can convert them to this new quota scheme once. Refined sugar made from imported raw sugar must be sold domestically by 31 October 2026.
Action: Sugar refiners with existing Advance Authorisation SION E52 should apply for one-time conversion to TRQ scheme per DGFT procedure notice; all importers must ensure refined sugar sales by 31.10.2026
