Sugar export banned until September 30, 2026 with exceptions
Sugar exports (raw, white, refined) are now prohibited effective immediately under HS codes 1701 1490 and 1701 9990, until 30 September 2026 or further order. Exceptions apply for EU/USA quota exports, Advance Authorization Scheme, government-to-government sales, and consignments already in physical export pipeline before notification date.
Action: If you have sugar export contracts, immediately check if your consignment qualifies for pipeline exemption (ship loading started, shipping bill filed with vessel berthed, or goods handed to customs before notification publication date) or apply under Advance Authorization Scheme; all other new exports are prohibited.
Who is affected: Sugar exporters shipping raw sugar, white sugar, or refined sugar (HS codes 1701 1490 and 1701 9990) except those with EU/USA quotas, AAS approval, or goods already berthed/handed to customs.
