New inventory-based e-commerce export framework launched for Indian sellers
India has introduced a new framework allowing e-commerce entities to export goods through registered Exporters-on-Record (EoR) who hold export inventory. Sellers-on-Record supply goods to EoRs against confirmed export orders. This enables small Indian sellers to access global markets via an organized e-commerce export model.
Action: E-commerce entities wishing to export must register as Exporter-on-Record with DGFT and GSTIN; Sellers-on-Record must register under GST law and ensure goods are of Indian origin.
Who is affected: E-commerce entities (excluding marketplace platforms) and registered sellers supplying goods of Indian origin for cross-border e-commerce export.
