RBI updates list of banks authorized to import gold and silver
The Reserve Bank of India has updated the list of banks permitted to import gold and silver into India, effective April 1, 2026. The authorization is valid until March 31, 2029. Fifteen banks can import both metals; two banks (Union Bank of India and SBER Bank) can import gold only.
Action: Importers and exporters must use only the listed authorized banks for gold/silver imports from April 1, 2026 onwards.
Who is affected: Banks authorized by RBI for precious metals import operations; importers and exporters using these banks for gold/silver trade.
