Silver bar imports now restricted, subject to policy conditions
India has changed the import policy for two types of silver bars (HS codes 71069221 and 71069229) from 'Free' to 'Restricted', effective immediately. Importers must now comply with Policy Condition No. 7 of Chapter 71 instead of importing freely.
Action: Obtain necessary approval or permission under Policy Condition No. 7 of Chapter 71 before importing silver bars; check RBI regulations for any additional requirements.
Who is affected: Importers of silver bars containing 99.9% or more silver by weight, and other silver bars (HS codes 71069221 and 71069229).
