Clear Float Glass imports now restricted unless CIF value ₹34,000+ per MT
India has changed the import policy for Clear Float Glass (4-12 mm) from "Free" to "Restricted". However, imports remain "Free" if the CIF value is ₹34,000 and above per Metric Tonne. Advance Authorisation holders, EOUs, and SEZ units are exempt from this restriction if inputs are not sold domestically.
Action: If importing Clear Float Glass below ₹34,000 CIF per MT, obtain import authorisation; if CIF value is ₹34,000+, no authorisation needed; EOUs/SEZ units should ensure inputs are not sold into Domestic Tariff Area.
Who is affected: Importers of Clear Float Glass (HS codes 70051090 and 70052990) across all sectors; exemptions apply to Advance Authorisation holders, Export Oriented Units (EOUs), and SEZ units.
