RBI to EXIM Bank transition for export credit interest subvention
The implementing agency for Interest Subvention Support under the Export Promotion Mission (EPM) is shifting from RBI to EXIM Bank effective 1st April 2026. RBI will process legacy claims from Jan–March 2026; EXIM Bank handles all new operations from April 2026 onwards. Banks must now submit reimbursement claims and reports to EXIM Bank instead of RBI.
Action: Participating banks must update their claim submission and reimbursement processes to route all new claims (from April 2026 onwards) to EXIM Bank instead of RBI, and ensure complete upfront pass-through of interest subvention to eligible exporters.
Who is affected: All exporters (especially MSMEs) and participating lending banks receiving pre- and post-shipment export credit with interest subvention under EPM.
